14-3-3[sigma] controls mitotic translation to facilitate cytokinesis

Article Abstract:

An antecedently unknown function is described for 14-3-3[sigma] as a regulator of mitotic translation through its direct mitosis-specific binding to a variety of translation/initiation factors. The results have shown how aberrant mitotic translation in the absence of 14-3-3[sigma] impairs mitotic exit to generate binucleate cells.

Translational control of hippocampal synaptic plasticity and memory by the eIF2alpha kinase GCN2

Article Abstract:

The genetic, physiological, behavioral, and molecular evidence that GNC2 regulates synaptic plasticity is presented along with the learning and memory, through modulation of the ATF4/CREB pathway. Activated GCN2 stimulates mRNA translation of ATF4, an antagonist of cyclic-AMP-response-element-binding protein (CREB).

Regulation of cap-dependent translation by eIF4E inhibitory proteins

Article Abstract:

A brief description of molecular mechanisms by which some of the proteins control translation, and a few of the biological processes they regulate are presented. Although only a handful of these eIF4E inhibitory proteins are identified there is a suspicion that there might be several others that await discovery.
